You Don't Have to Live Like This

A gentle, day-case procedure, just under the skin

Real, lasting relief for migraines that medicines could never quite control

We know how exhausting it is. The pills that only half work. The days lost in a dark room. The family moments you had to miss. Being told, again and again, that this is simply something you have to live with. We would like to gently offer you a different thought: for many people, there is a specific, physical cause, and a small, superficial operation can take it away.

From Where Does Your Migraine Start?

Take a moment and think about where your pain begins. Not where it ends up, where it STARTS. Many people who have lived with migraine for years notice that every attack begins at the very same spot, and they can put one finger right on it:

  1. At the side of the head, above the ear
  2. At the eyebrow, just above the eye
  3. At the back of the head, where it meets the neck
  4. Deep behind the eyes, at the bridge of the nose
  5. At one small spot on the top of the head

If this sounds like you, please know that it is not "all in your head" and it is not something you have done wrong. Here is what may be happening. At each of these spots there is a small sensory nerve lying just a few millimetres under the skin. In some people that nerve is being squeezed, by a tight muscle, a small blood vessel, or a band of tissue. The constant pressure irritates the nerve, and that irritation is what sets off your migraine. Your pain is real, and it has a reason.

Migraine surgery simply frees the nerve from whatever is pressing on it. It is done through a small incision hidden in the eyebrow crease, the hairline, or inside the nose. Nothing goes inside the skull. Nothing touches the brain. Once the nerve is released, the irritation settles, and for most of our patients, the migraines stop or become rare and mild. Life opens up again.

What this surgery is, and just as importantly, what it is not

We understand that the word "surgery" can be frightening, especially when it concerns your head. Many of our patients felt exactly the same before they came to see us. So let us be very clear and very honest about what we actually do:

✓

Just under the skin

The nerves we release lie only a few millimetres below the surface. This is gentle, superficial surgery.

✓

Nothing inside the skull. Nothing touches the brain.

We never open the skull. This is not neurosurgery.

✓

A day-case

You come in the morning and you sleep in your own bed that same night, with your family around you.

✓

30 to 75 minutes

Under general anaesthesia or local anaesthesia with sedation, whichever you prefer, after discussing it with us.

✓

Hidden incisions

In the eyelid crease, the hairline, or inside the nose. Once healed, most people cannot find the scar themselves.

✓

Proven for over 20 years

Supported by more than two decades of published research and thousands of patients worldwide.

And most importantly: the years you have spent in pain were never "normal", and you do not have to accept them as the rest of your story. If your migraine starts from one of the five trigger zones, there is a real chance, a very real chance, that we can help you get your life back.
